Architecture and daylight

A (love-hate) relationship

In the Tanzhaus Zürich, great care was taken to create an comfortable atmosphere in the building using natural light. The contrast between light and shade add a dynamic element to every room. Thanks to careful planning, the Tanzhaus has a magnificent views of the surrounding area, allowing the visitors to dramatic views of the cityscape and the Limmat river through both the façade windows and the skylights.

Plant-based sun protection plays an important role in the use of daylight, as do the trapezoidal windows and the fixed shading of the skylights, which were especially designed for this project.
