Daylight planning was a particular challenge in the new Dancehall. The main façades of the building is constructed from 65 cm thick insulating concrete, which creates very deep reveals. In addition, the trapezoidal windows, which are wide at the bottom and narrow at the top, only allow a small amount of daylight to enter, and the mostly grey exposed concrete surfaces only reflect a small percentage of the light into the building.
Nevertheless, thanks to the careful planning of the sun protection, it was possible to create a pleasant atmosphere using natural light. The combination of window geometry and the foliage moving in front of the windows with the weather, create a unique feeling of space. The changing contrast of light and shadow add a dynamic element to the whole experience.
